Epic Kit!

I had arranged to go mountain biking in the afternoon with a friend from out of town. 30 mins before I was supposed to leave (late), the General Manager turns up, then I make my escape (normal knock-off time), then I get a text from a colleague saying: He wants to talk to you, urgent!. Me: Can it be done by phone? Him: He will call you. Then I have this “meeting” whilst driving (I don’t remember anything about the drive – I can see why it is so dangerous), arguing with the GM about why I need to delay a big piece of equipment by year, but how it won’t affect the project at all.

And then did I mention the bike dramas? The night before, I go to check on the bike, tyres are a bit down, so I try and pump up the rear one, end up fully deflating it, then snap the valve off the tube (means it won’t ever pump up), so I go to change the tube, find that the rubber of the tyre has glued itself to the rim of the wheel so I can’t take it off. Then after I left work, I went past a shop to see if they could replace it, and *he* couldn’t – he was asking if I had used a special glue or compound to fill the tyre, left the wheel with him to try and fix. And that’s when I got the text about the GM wanting to talk to me. Then I race home, pick up my spare wheel with the city slick tyre (mostly flat), and drive out to meet the friend. I'm only one hour later than we had originally planned. Mountain biking on a city slick tyre? It can be done, but looks really silly!

Kit is Worker Bee

Yesterday - Rock up: 0730. Rock out: 1830. Today? I have been responsible for generating, or the filing of at least 120 emails, and several letters setting fire to things. And probably people. Pub time!

Becstarr : Samudra

Getting organised for the holiday (and wondering whether I'm ready enough, and whether I have time to get everything done that needs to be done at work, etc etc) has got me a bit stressed. The positive in this is that it got me to morning yoga today for the first time in ages! The teacher was a new person (Darsh, I think?) and I found the class excellent. It was a gentle class rather than a tough one (cf Bree) - the word we heard a lot of was "compassion" - but it really was exactly what I needed.

All sixes and sevens.

Last week, I climbed with someone with no fingers*.

Today I am having one of those almost everything goes wrong type days. You know, the message pops up "Are you you sure you wish to erase your hard drive, and replace with random 1's and 0's?", and you accidently click the wrong button.

* Well, he had mostly first-knuckles only. And one full thumb. I think it was frostbite, but I was too embarrassed to ask. Bloody good climber though. On the reds/blacks, for those in the know.

Tired, and then a biscuit

Spending too many, too long hours at work recently. Actually asked a guy on the phone today whether or not they really wanted us to pass on their offer, and give the contract to someone else. Pull your finger out guys!

Climbed at the gym (1 hr - too short), then big dinner, and an arnott's scotch finger. Mmm, shortbread.

Anna : Must. Deal. With. Stress. Better!

I've been feeling very stressed. Just before holidays my hands broke out in this "bubbling skin thing" which I was getting quite regularly in the final months at SBS. I'm eating more than I should, tried to go without drinking in January and lasted two weeks and today my chest is all tight. I got a book out on managing stress and it suggested :

* Walk to work rather than driving (check)
* Watch what you're eating (uh huh)
* Try to drink less (yeah, that went really well)
* Regular exercise, especially yoga (doing that)

Which leaves :

* Try to breathe deeper throughout the day (it's a good time to do this, office mate is away so I won't get called on what can sound like constant sighing)
* Get a massage (I have still never had a massage, maybe it's time)

Also don't have a full week of work for 3 weeks running due to training, public holidays and SDO's ... that'll help right?

Friday Afternoon Special

Ah ha ha ha ha ha.
Ah ha ha ha ha ha.
Ah ha ha ha ha ha.
Ah ha ha ha ha ha.

Could things get any worse? These disasters come in threes, right? I'm just waiting for the friday afternoon special to arrive.

Oh Fook.

You know when you have one of those days where everything is going along swimmingly, and then !Bang!, something goes totally wrong and hits you upside on the head and no progress has actually happened for the past 2 months? And your project timeframes are then shot to pieces?
Yeah, I'll have one of those thanks.
I hate local councils.

Anna : Stress

Over the last 2 weeks I've noticed some skin problems that I get when put under prolonged physical/mental stress. What could be causing this? New job, Guy and the horror class, 3 weekends lost to filming, increased hours at the gym and more drinking? Nah. How many weeks until Christmas? Hmmm. Well maybe some dancing will help!

Becstarr : Yoga or swimming or something

Burst into tears at work at one point today. Think I may need some extra yoga or swimming or something. Babysat Aidan (2) and Alana (almost 5) with Dave in the evening out at Haberfield. Had a lot of fun with storytime, and got to debrief with Dave as well as have a read of Alana's last Christmas present from D: "Henrietta - there's no-one better". I definitely need a copy!

Becstarr : The crunch is telling

Feeling increasingly stressed about getting projects done on time. Talked to Ross about the LMS handover in about 10 days. Team meeting where we got told our working group reports would be considered after the planning meetings. Up-side (I think) of the day: our new computers were released, and I now have a half-set-up MacBookPro.

One down...

Only person manning the fort. One chapter down (Hurray!), only 16 more to go in 6.5 days till holidays. Hmm. This is possibly not achievable. And of course - I've planned my holiday so that I get back for 4 days, and then I get the Oct long weekend to recover.
